Our Story

Hospitality the way it used to be done.

Select Chalets & Retreats began with a simple frustration: it was becoming harder and harder to find a holiday home that actually felt like staying with friends. Faceless platforms, automated messages, key safes in lockboxes — somewhere along the way, the hospitality had gone out of hospitality.

So we built the opposite. A tiny collection of three homes — two alpine chalets in Maria Alm, Austria and one Georgian country house in Ditchling, Sussex — looked after by a team small enough that you will know everyone by name before you arrive.

We don't aim to grow much beyond this. We would rather know each property intimately, each guest by reputation, and each season ahead by heart.

Hand-picked, never replicated

Every property in our collection is owned, visited and personally vetted by us. We turn down far more homes than we accept — only those with a distinct sense of place, considered design and a genuinely warm welcome make the cut.

Personal service, from first enquiry to last sunset

You will speak to a real person — usually the same person — from the moment you enquire until the moment you check out. No call centres, no scripts, no upselling. Just patient, knowledgeable hosts who care that your week works.

Wellness at the heart of every stay

Saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, mountain air, country gardens, fresh local produce. Our retreats are built around slowing down and feeling better — quietly, without ceremony.

Quiet luxury, never showy

We choose hospitality that feels effortless: linen sheets, well-stocked larders, lit fires when you arrive. The details matter; the announcement of them does not.
